Conway, SC… Patricia Carson Franks, lovingly known as "Pat", passed away peacefully at the age of 89, on March 11, 2024 with her family and caregivers at her side. Pat was born on May 30th, 1934, in Anderson, SC, to the late Elmer Bertram Carson and Madelyn Corrine Campbell Carson and was a graduate of Anderson High. Mrs. Franks was the youngest of five children. She is preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, James Franks (Jim), a son, Steve Franks, a brother, Elmer B. "Bubba" Carson Jr, and three sisters; Mrs. Mary Smith, Mrs. Alberta Inabinet, and Mrs. Marjorie Kates. Pat was a hard working, strong woman of faith with a ready smile and a great sense of humor. All who knew her, loved her very much. Pat was a caregiver and loved helping others. After spending the first part of her life caring for her children and then grandchildren, she took care of her husband in his declining years as well as her sisters. She loved spending time with her family more than anything. Her greatest joy outside of her family was loving and caring for small children. She taught preschool at First Baptist Church of Conway and First Baptist Church of Myrtle Beach as well as teaching 2 and 3 year Sunday school classes. Pat was an avid Bridge player. Her Bridge club of Conway were her lifelong friends, as well as new friends she made while playing bridge at Belin Methodist and at Carolina Gardens where she has resided the last eight years of life. She believed children were one of God's sweetest blessings. Pat enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, often sharing her talents by making many birthday and wedding cakes for her community. She will be remembered for saying, "Isn't that one of God's little miracles?" when the smallest blessing occurred. Pat is survived by her three loving children; Marcia Cullipher (Blainey), Tricia Jones (Avery), and Bert Franks (Mary Catharine) and seven grandchildren, Jill Souza (Jeff), Jan Cullipher, Steven Franks (Miranda), Hayley Franks (Sam), Mary Helms (Jordan), William Helms (Laney) and Maddie Franks, and six great grandchildren. The family would like to thank all of the caregivers of Carolina Gardens for the loving care they gave their mom during her last years. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel.
