Loris, SC Mr. Paul "Bobby" Johnson, Sr., age 82, husband of Betty Johnson, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, October 22, 2023. Born December 3, 1940 in Loris, Bobby was the son of the late George Samuel Johnson and the late Flora Inez Miller Johnson. Prior to his retirement he farmed and worked as a Production Supervisor in the manufacturing sector. He was a long-time, faithful, and devoted member of Buck Creek Baptist Church and loved his church family dearly. Bobby served as a deacon, went on mission trips, helped in the food ministry, worked on the grounds committee, sang in the choir, and served as a substitute Sunday school teacher. Other pastimes he enjoyed included hunting, fishing, and go-kart racing. Bobby loved his family and cherished the time they were able to spend together, and was always supportive of the many activities his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were involved in. His loving and helpful nature extended beyond his family and he was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He and Betty could be seen at all the local eateries, but his favorite was Shorty's Grill. In addition to his parents, Bobby was predeceased by two brothers, Maryland Johnson and Calvin Johnson; and his sisters, Virginia Smith, Ludie Norris, Eunice Cox, Velma Strickland, and Peggy Gore. Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 65 years, Betty Johnson; his daughter, Cindy Burbridge and her husband Ken and his son, Paul Johnson; his grandchildren, Stefanie Deshong (Jamie), Christian Stallings (Jordan), Casey Johnson (Emily), Mary Freshwatwer (John), Tanner Johnson, Sarah Johnson, and Grace Hardee (Zach); seventeen great-grandchildren; and his sister, Myrtle Holmes. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Buck Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Larry Allen. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Buck Creek Baptist Church, 11483 Highway 905, Longs, SC 29568.
