Richard “Dick” Aiosa, beloved husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and uncle, passed away peacefully in his home in Surfside Beach, SC, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 after a brief illness. Born March 9, 1942 in Hyde Park, New York to the late Frank and Julia Aiosa. Known to friends and family as Dick, Mr. Aiosa graduated from St. John’s College of New York in 1963. After college, he served in the U.S. Army for two years at the U.S. Army Infantry School in Fort Benning Georgia. After being discharged, Dick began a career in Human Resources Management that spanned over 30 years with over 20 years of employment with AVX Corporation Corporate Headquarters in Myrtle Beach, SC, which brought him and his family to South Carolina in 1978. He was an avid golfer for decades. In May of 1998, Dick began a career with Burroughs and Chapin’s Golf Division. In April of 2001, with the opening of the Grande Dunes Resort golf course, Dick transferred to the new facility as one of their first “starters.” He also enjoyed travel, good food, woodworking, gardening and old cars. He adored his children, spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a soft-spot for stray animals and early in retirement volunteered his time walking dogs for a local shelter. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Garden City. In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his sister Helen Hull, of TN, and his brother Robert Aiosa, of Boca Raton, FL. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jackie (nee Harris) of Surfside Beach; his children Audrey Jones (Todd) of Charlotte, NC, Jennifer Aiosa (Richard O’Brien) of Baltimore, MD and Mark Aiosa (Heather) of Clearwater, FL, Trinity Collins (Brian) of Mullins, SC and Nathan Harris of Surfside Beach; as well as his grandson Blake Jones (Clare) of Greenville, SC; his granddaughter Ryan Harris; sister in law, Winnie Aiosa of Boca Raton, FL; and ten nieces and nephews. A private service will be held for the family.
