Myrtle Beach….. In a sudden turn of events, Richard "Rick" Josie, aged 74, peacefully departed on January 13, 2024, at MUSC, with his devoted wife by his side. Born on January 17, 1949, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late John and Lillian Josie, Rick is now reunited in eternal rest with his parents and brother, Jack Josie. Capturing the essence of a life that left an indelible mark on the world is a challenge in just a few words. Rick, a devoted husband, father, step-father, and grandfather, made a profound impact. Serving with pride in the US Navy during the Vietnam War, he embodied love and gentleness, never a stranger to anyone. Universally adored, Rick's magnetic personality shone through. His passions included literature, weightlifting, woodworking, and savoring the tunes of The Rolling Stones, all while crafting exquisite birdhouses. Rick is survived by his cherished wife and confidante of 30 years, Kathy. Their enduring connection began at the tender age of 8, and their bond has withstood the test of 67 years. Left to carry forward his legacy are his sons Matthew Josie of Bay Village, Ohio, and Justin Josie, also of Bay Village, Ohio. Additionally, he is survived by stepsons Tom Hunsdorf (Katie) of Hastings, FLA; Joey Gaspar (Bambie) of Plainfield, IN; and Danny Gaspar (Chrissy) of Wellington, Ohio. Rick's influence extends to his beloved grandchildren: Sophia Josie, Madeline Josie, Cody Ambrose, Hannah Hunsdorf, Hailey Hunsdorf, Hayden Hunsdorf, Makayla Firem, Willow Gaspar, and Shyanne Gaspar. Beyond his family, Rick leaves behind a multitude of friends. His memory will linger warmly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing and missing him. A commemorative service to honor Rick's life will be conducted at a later date in South Carolina. Subsequently, a ceremony adorned with military honors is scheduled for July at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
