Conway, SC Ronald Thomas "Ronnie" Rush, age 62, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at his residence. He was born on August 30, 1948, the son of the late George and Florence Rush. Ronnie was raised in the Inlet section of Atlantic City and graduated from Atlantic City High School and Atlantic Community College. He resided in Egg Harbor Township (Bargaintown section) with his lovely wife Joannie. When Ronald retired a few years ago he and his wife moved to Myrtle Beach, SC. While growing up, Ronnie was a proud member of the Inlet Club and member of their Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Explorer Post 9. Ronnie had an amazing talent as a star player of the Inlet Little League. He also became a member of the Morris Guards military company in Atlantic City. While a teenager Ronnie became a member of the Atlantic City Beach Patrol before he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp, where he served our country from 1966-1967. While serving, Ronnie received many medals for his outstanding service and bravery only few men have! He was honored with The Marine Corp Combat Medal, National Defense, Republic of Vietnam service medal, Vietnam Defense Medal, Vietnam Distinguished Service Medal, US Navy/US Marine Corp Combat Action Medal, and American Defense Service Medal. Ronald's service was cut short in 1967 while serving with the Marine Corp Elite Recon Unit. He was critically injured in combat which resulted in him receiving the Distinguished Purple Heart Medal. Upon his return from Vietnam he was awarded the Prestigious Atlantic City Gold Award from the Morris Guards for Distinguished service to his country, State and City. In 1978 Ronnie was one of the first dealers to be employed by Resorts International Casino. He began to work his way thru the ranks to become a Pit Boss, until his retirement in 2004. Ronnie was an avid fisherman, who could be "caught" on his boat along with his soul mate and wife Joannie. They would often fish from Sunrise to Sunset... Surviving are his Wife, Joannie; two step sons, Kevin Cox of Clearwater, Fl. And Christopher Earnest of Ventnor, NJ; two brothers, John Rush and wife Ellen, of Egg Harbour Township, NJ and George Rush of Valrico, Fl.; two sisters, Kathy Verdine of Las Vegas, NV and Dorothy Claycomb of Stuart, FL; two grandchildren, Mia and Patrick; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Ronnie's Life will be held Saturday after 2:00 PM at the home of John Rush.
