Myrtle Beach Sadie Elizabeth Dusenbury Martin died Saturday, January 8, 2011, following a brief illness. Widow of Elbert Henry Martin, she was born March 28, 1925, to the late Leo Ellis and Josie Fay Harper Dusenbury of the Toddville community of Horry County. She is survived by five children, Sally M. (Mrs. Charles W.) Gadd, of Wake Forest, North Carolina, David E. Martin, of Myrtle Beach, Nancy M. Wisse, of Mt. Pleasant, Martha M. (Mrs. L. Shepard) Hamrick, of Shelby, North Carolina, and Rebecca M. (Mrs. Keith) McMillan, of Myrtle Beach. Her grandchildren are David C. Gadd, of Columbia, North Carolina, Laura E. Gadd and William M. Gadd of Raleigh, Henry L. Martin and David Bratton Martin, of Myrtle Beach, Jacob M. Wisse and Tucker W. Wisse, of Mt. Pleasant, Amanda H. Eckenrode, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Cameron Street Hamrick and JoAnna L. Hamrick, of Shelby, North Carolina, and Alec R., Zachary W. and Sadie E. McMillan, of Myrtle Beach. Rachel W. Gadd, her great-grand daughter, was born in 2010. Mrs. Martin was predeceased by her siblings, Fay D. Martin, Leo Ellis Dusenbury and William Joseph Dusenbury, all of Conway. Educated in Horry County, Mrs. Martin was salutatorian of the Conway High School class of 1942. With her late husband, she founded Palmetto Paper Tube, Inc. in Hemingway, South Carolina, and served as Vice President of the Company for many years. Mrs. Martin had lived in Myrtle Beach since 1996 and had been an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach. Mrs. Martin had been a group leader and active participant in the Women's Bible Study Fellowship for many years. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Union United Methodist Church, in the Toddville Community, where she grew up. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the First United Methodist Church parlor in Myrtle Beach from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM Monday, and following the funeral service at Union Church.
