Susan Hundley Dickinson Hagan Surrounded by the love of her family, Susan Hundley Dickinson Hagan, beloved mother, musician, and teacher, transcended peacefully in her home on Monday, May 14 2012, after a brief illness. For many years she taught in the public schools of Lake City, Coward, and at Socastee High School in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lake City, where she sang in the choir. In recent years, Susan was Administrative Assistant with Expert Care in Myrtle Beach from 2001 to 2012. Born in Orangeburg, South Carolina, on August 20, 1936, Susan was the daughter of the late Justine Smith Hundley Culler and Daniel Marchant Culler, both of Orangeburg and the late Robert Washington Hundley of Leakesville, North Carolina. She was the granddaughter of Forrest Stanmore Smith of Saluda, South Carolina; Justine Eva Sanders Smith, Julia Belle Marchant Culler and Julian Wesley Culler, all of Orangeburg. She attended Columbia College in Columbia, South Carolina, and studied voice at Chautauqua, New York and under opera singer Elda Vittori of Asheville, North Carolina. Susan was first married to the late Robert Frank Dickinson of Buffalo, New York, and Miami, Florida, and second to George Thomas Hagan, Jr., of Lake City, South Carolina. Surviving are her three adored children: Susan Dickinson Maxwell of Surfside, Eleanor Dickinson Whitlock of Barnwell, and George Thomas Hagan, III, of Atlanta; her treasured grandchildren Chantsie Whitlock Pickelsimer (Karl) of Barnwell, Edward King Whitlock of Lake City, Sunni Lea Maxwell Oneal of Parsons, Tennessee, Robert Hunter Maxwell (Lindsey) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and great grandchildren Ava Marie Oneal, Noah Maxwell, and Madison Maxwell. Also cherished by her are sisters Mary Hundley Coleman of Columbia; Justine Bond Culler of Orangeburg, and Julia Culler Wolfe of Bamberg, a brother Robert Walter Hundley of Orangeburg, her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and many beloved cousins. A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel in Murrells Inlet on Saturday, May 19, 2012 with Graveside Services to follow at 3:30 at Belin United Methodist Church Cemetery, 4182 Highway 17 Business, Murrells Inlet .
