Terry Philip Anderson, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina on June 7, 2024. His daughter, Tracy, her husband, Gary Goggans of Pawleys Island, SC, and his beloved pup, Cali, were with him when he took his final breath. He was a proud grandfather to Zoe Esslinger of Phoenix, AZ, Quinn Esslinger of Nashville, TN, and Lyric Esslinger of Little Chute, WI. He enjoyed keeping up with the adventures and life events of his grandkids, including his step grandchildren, Connor and his husband Jake of Milwaukee, WI; Ryan his wife, Jenn, and their sons Liam and Charlie of Oshkosh, WI; Mallory and her husband Jason of Oak Park, IL; and Zach of Brooklyn, NY. He loved being one of the patriarchs of a large, beautiful extended family including his first love and Tracy’s mom, Linda Anderson, of North Carolina and the R. Dwight Goggans family of the Atlanta area. He was married to Diane Serakos-Anderson for two decades in California. They shared many great moments and memories with Diane’s daughters, Tracy (Jesse) and Kristin (Ronnie) and his step-granddaughters Ayden, Reyna, Shaylee, and Camryn. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Gladys Krueger Anderson and his brother B. Michael Anderson. Terry was born in Fond du Lac, WI, but grew up in Oshkosh on the shore of Lake Winnebago where he enjoyed sailing as a teenager. After graduating from the University of Arizona, he acted in Hollywood briefly before being called to serve in the U.S. Air Force in Korea. He was a proud veteran, generously supporting charitable causes centered around the well-being of soldiers and animal rescues. Once an avid golfer, scuba diver, and traveler, Terry will be remembered for his adventurous, rebellious spirit, love for dogs, and really bad dad jokes. It is in the beautiful moments and memories that Terry’s family takes comfort, with his spirit living on in the hearts of those he touched. The Anderson, Esslinger, and Goggans families would like to thank the SSU nurses at Grand Strand Memorial Hospital, Dr. Tyler Kilgore, Agape Hospice, and Heartful Hearts Home Care for sharing their talents and compassion with our loved one. A graveside service for family and friends will take place on Sunday, June 23 at 10am at Hillcrest Cemetery of Conway with a reception to follow.
