Thomas Farrell

Thomas Farrell passed away at his home on Friday, September 11, 2026. He waited until family members had said their goodbyes. His strength shining through in the final days to be there for everyone. Tom was born in Albany, NY. He is the son of the late Thomas and Dorothy Farrell. Tom is preceded in death by his first wife Carol of 43 years together, step grandson Josh and his sister Carolyn. He was the beloved husband of 16 years of Wendy Shallcross. His legacy lives on his children Thomas J Farrell III (Donielle), Kelly Callaghan (Chris), Timothy Farrell, Michael Farrell (Tracy), stepchildren Sharon Foster (Mark), Donna Skelley (Scott) grandchildren Krysta, Thomas IV, Michael, Kate, Christopher, Tim, Billy, Brittany, Ashley: step grandchildren Shauna, Jessica, Samantha, and Meagen. In addition, he has many cherished great grandchildren. His legacy spans many continued lifetimes. Tom proudly served in the United States Navy. He had a lifelong career with IBM. He was a third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Tom was a lifelong member of the James Hill Hook and ladder Fire Company, Rensselaer, NY. These accomplishments were achieved because of who he was. He was proud of our country and wanted to serve. His IBM retirement party illustrated the respect and friendships he had formed through the years. He lived his life with dignity and regard for things such as family and community. Tom loved baseball and Fox news. He enjoyed conversations about how life was, and how it was changing. Tom moved to Myrtle Beach later in life. He was tired of shoveling snow. In no time, he was part of the community going to lunch with the guys and enjoying vacations. He loved his family. Whenever his grandchildren and great grandchildren were mentioned, he softened and smiled. He was so proud of his children. He shared stories of their accomplishments. Tom was dignified, strong, caring and above all a good man. He loved two wonderful women who got to share a part of their lives with him. “The man is a success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; who has gained the respect of men and women and the love of children.” The family will be honored to receive friends and family from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel SC. There will also be services in New York to be announced later. Join us in the celebration of his life.
