Loris.. William Pink "W.P." Barker, age 82, passed away Monday, June 6, 2011 at the Agape Hospice in Conway, SC. Mr. Barker was born May 15, 1929 in Loris and was the son of the late Kelly Clyde Barker and the late Jennie Roberta Cox Barker. He spent many years as a farmer in Loris before serving Horry County as a guard for its prison work crew. He was an avid hunter loving to spend many hours outside enjoying hearing his dogs run and being with his friends. Mr. Barker was predeceased by his first wife Lucille McDowell Barker, two brothers: Hubert T. Barker and Glenn Boyd Barker, and three sisters: Jennie Inez Barker, Crystelle Inman, and Dorothy Barker, and one nephew: Thomas Barker. Mr. Barker was survived by his wife of nearly 52 years Eunice Lee Barker, two daughters: Sarah Farmay and her husband Tarlochan of Loris and Teresa Shadwell and her husband Shad of Shepherdsville, KY; three grandchildren: Parvinder Farmay, Anjuli Farmay, both of Loris and Jennie Shadwell of Shepherdsville, KY; two special "granddaughters" Kim Hardee and her husband Kendall of Loris and Nikha Rana of Longs; two special nephews whom he thought of as his sons: Andrew "Ben" Lee and his wife Vickie of Loris and James Lee of Jacksonville, FL; one special friend whom he thought of as a son: Billy Collins of Conway; one nephew: Tony Barker and his wife Faye of Conway; two nieces Sylvia Pate and her husband George Angus and Phyllis Inman, all of Rowland NC, and numerous great-nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 8, 2011 from 6-8 PM at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Loris. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Loris First United Methodist Church in Loris, SC with the Rev. W. Russell Freeman, the Rev. Carl Harris and the Rev. Dorris Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery. The family would like to give special thanks to Bonnie Tindall and all of the staff of Agape Hospice in Conway, SC who were so helpful, loving, and compassionate in his final hours. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations should be made to Agape Hospice, Conway SC.
