Dennis P Nazzaro
January 31, 1950 - July 18, 2020
Dennis Joined the Army in 1968 and served in Vietnam in military intelligence. Following his combat tour in Vietnam, he was posted to Germany until 1971. Once stateside he enrolled at the University of Maryland and upon graduation began his 30-year career in commercial real estate. His forte was shopping center development and leasing, ranging from major malls to neighborhood specialty centers across the United States. Dennis loved to hunt, collect guns, and enjoyed traveling. Trips to Rome, Italy and an African safari were two of his all-time favorites. He was also quite the chef and enjoyed exploring his Italian heritage when he created new dishes for his family and friends. He was devoted to Promise Keepers from its beginning in 1990 because of the organization’s dedication to introducing men to Jesus Christ and helping them grow as Christians. He was excited to join 800,000 men who attended the organization’s Stand in the Gap event on the National Mall in Washington, DC in 1997. A pastor who knows Dennis well recently said “he was an incredible encourager of men.” Another ministry close to his heart was Our Little Roses Orphanage in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The ministry rescues abused, abandoned and orphaned girls living in abject poverty by giving them a loving home where they are fed, clothed and educated. Dennis made many trips to the orphanage to contribute his time, talent and treasure to help nurture these little ones. Dennis and Kitty fell headlong in love on a business trip to New Orleans in 1980 and never looked back. Their shared love of Jesus was foundational to their relationship and their marriage overflowed with joy and laughter through good times and bad. They were the love of each other’s life. Dennis was a warrior. He was a tough guy with a tender heart who wanted everyone to know Jesus as he did. The word “impossible” was not a part of his vocabulary, as anyone who knew him would tell you. He was one of a kind… larger than life… not easily forgotten. And we know without a doubt, he has heard the Lord say… “Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.”
