James A. (Jim) Knapp Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

James A. (Jim) Knapp, 77 James A. (Jim) Knapp of Pawleys Island died May 4 at Waccamaw Community Hospital. He was 77. Jim retired from IBM in 1993 and in 2000 he and his wife moved to Pawleys Island from Atlanta. He was a member of The Reserve Golf Club and was an avid fan of the University of South Carolina. Jim also enjoyed attending and watching all types of car races. He was born November 2, 1943 in Cedar Rapids, IA, the son of Alfred and Dorothy Knapp. Jim attended the University of Iowa and was a graduate of Coe College. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Cecilia (Cissy) Knapp; his daughter, Amy Branca (Kevin) of Rabun Gap, GA; his son, Jeff Knapp of Studio City, CA; his brothers, Craig Knapp of Hiawatha, IA and Steve Knapp (Sue) of Marion, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his brothers Don Knapp and Robert-Joseph Knapp. A private Funeral Mass was held May 14 at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church by Father Patrick Stenson, followed by inurnment in the church columbarium.
