James Arthur Lang, Sr., 85, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away Monday, February 14, 2022, at home. James was born April 18, 1936 in Georgetown, SC a son of the late Carrie Austin Lang and Noah E. “Capt. Buck” Lang. James graduated from Winyah High School in Georgetown, SC in 1954. He joined the United States Naval Reserve and served his country for 8 years; (2) years active stand-by. James was a native and third generation resident of Georgetown and Horry County. He was the owner and operator of James Lang Painting and Wall Covering, Inc. Mr. Lang was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Marcia Black Lang, four children, Elisabeth Lang Spencer of Smyrna, GA, James “Jamie” A. Lang, Jr. (Jill) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Michelle Lang Keelin (Ed) of Pawleys Island, SC, and Heidi Lang of Myrtle Beach, SC; six grandchildren, Jake Spencer, Elizabeth “Liz” Hogan (J.P.), James “Jay” A. Lang, III (Ashlee), Joshua Lang (Brittani), Parker Keelin, and Will Keelin. Mr. Lang is predeceased by: three sisters, Lillian L. Williams, Ann L. Jones, and Freddie Mae Lang; and three brothers, John Jake Lang, Fritz Lang, and Noah Lang. James loved his family and was a kind and generous man. He was well known for his sense of humor and always humming a happy tune. He loved Nascar, talking about football, and grilling out for his family. James also loved to garden, feed his birds and squirrels, and loved all animals. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, February 25, 2022, at The First United Methodist Church Chapel of Myrtle Beach. The family will receive friends following the service.
