    Lorraine Almond

    June 28, 1954 - July 15, 2020

    Conway… Mrs. Lorraine Almond, 66, passed away peacefully at her home, Wednesday, July 15, 2020, surrounded by her beloved children and grandchildren. Born June 28, 1954 in Herkimer, NY, Lorraine was the daughter of Catherine Cook Blystone and the late Robert Crowter. She retired to Conway, SC after a 24 year career as an Elementary Art Teacher with the Arlington Central School District. Lorraine graduated from Thomas R. Proctor High School, received her BFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and her M.A. from SUNY- New Paltz. Lorraine was an amazingly talented artist who also enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking, and journaling. She loved collecting antiques, pottery, and postcards and was a master at jigsaw puzzles. She loved her grandchildren beyond words and held "Gramma Camp" for them at her home during the summer, passing along her love of baking and crafting. Lorraine loved animals and provided furever homes for dogs and cats. She possessed an enduring faith in God and attended The Rock Church in Conway. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband, Wahariwah'tsen:ri; her father, Robert Crowter; her stepfather, Eugene Blystone; and her children's father, Rex Almond. Along with her mother, Lorraine is survived by her children, Jennifer Jensen, Jacqueline Brunell (Thomas Bunnenberg), Joanne Zalesky (Michael), and Jordan Carpenter (Christopher); her grandchildren, Linkin Brunell, Londyn Brunell, Levi Brunell, Sara Jensen, Katy Jensen, and Shaylee Jensen; her siblings, Robert Crowter, Catherine Neary, John Crowter (Joyce), Phil Blystone (Carol), and Audrey Deveney; her mother-in-law, Joy Brant; her very close friend since 4th grade, Shirley Keelty; and a second very special friend, Marilyn Gallagher; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Hillcrest Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Timmy Tyner. The family will receive friends at the gravesite following the committal service. Memorial donations may be made to The Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, 415 Crossways Park Drive, Suite D, Woodbury, NY 11797 or to the Horry County Animal Care Center, 1923 Industrial Park Rd., Conway, SC 29526.
