Mary AcAlister Bangs

Mary McAlister Bangs, age 73, of Myrtle Beach, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Monday, February 7, 2022. Born in Cramerton, NC, she was a daughter of the late Harold C. McAlister and Bernice B. House. She was an ordained minister, and with her late husband, Art Bangs served congregations in North Carolina, most notably, the Christian Center in Ashboro. In addition, she was one of the very first televised evangelist prior to coming to Myrtle Beach where she then was a member and Care Pastor at Journey Church in Murrells Inlet. She loved mission trips and hosting the women’s group at church yearly. She was a retiree of Horry County but remained a active poll worker due to her passion that everyone vote. She loved her gardens, providing vegetables to all of her friends and neighbors. An avid bowler, she couldn’t resist joining friends for a frame or two. She was very passionate about animal rescue, donating time and money to the Animal Shelters. A mother to most, close friend to others, a follower of Christ. Her biggest joy in life was bringing people to the Lord, evangelizing her faith. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by two husbands: Bob Hillard and Art Bangs. Surviving are her caregivers: Charlene Thompson, Russell and Jackie Thompson and her precious dogs Favor and Shalom. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Journey Church in Inlet Square Mall, 10125 Hwy. 17 Byp., Murrells Inlet, SC 29576 with the Reverend Thomas Wallace II officiating. Friends will gather for a wake 1 hour prior at the church. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel is assisting the family.
