Mickey Ammerata

Michael “Mickey” Ammerata, age 92, of Surfside Beach, South Carolina, went to be with God on May 5, 2022. Mickey was born in Brooklyn, New York and resided in Long Island after serving in the US Army during the Korean War and then worked as a wholesale florist before retiring in 1990 and moving to Surfside Beach with his wife of nearly 50 years, Jo Ann, who passed away in 2009. Mickey loved cooking, painting, golf, crosswords, family feud, and nightly movies , even if he did see them before. Mickey was one of four siblings and is survived by one sister, Tina. He is also survived by two sons, Craig (Deborah) Ammerata, and Todd (Kimber) Ammerata; four grandchildren, Michael, Anthony (Crystal), Linda, and Johnathan; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Mia, Deniz, Adriana and Isabella. A small private, intimate viewing with family and friends was held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the funeral home, followed by a service at Shephard of the Sea Lutheran Church.
