Loris... Robert Pate, age 76, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his home after enduring several illnesses over the past few years. Robert was born June 10, 1944 in Bladenboro, NC a son of the late Mabel and Lonnie Pate. He moved to Horry County in 1945 and became a life-long resident. Robert was an avid golfer and loved the South Carolina Gamecocks. He also enjoyed cooking backbone and rice and grilling for his family and friends. Robert was the owner and operator of Pate's Red and White and Pate's IGA for many years. He was also a building contractor and served as the general contractor for Sherry's Pharmacy. He was a founding member of the Loris Blue Pride Club and was also a member of Loris First Baptist Church where he served as a former Deacon. Robert was predeceased by a great aunt, Mollie Todd and two cousins, L.C Todd and Elnita Todd Phillips. Survivors include his wife, Linda Frye Pate of Loris, one daughter, Sherry Pate Blosser (John) of Nakina, NC, one son, Robin Lane "Robbie" Pate (Bobbie) of Loris, two stepdaughters, Sheila Rabon Harrelson (Stan) of Green Sea and Darlene Rabon Causey (Ronnie) of Loris, seven grandchildren, Elizabeth Grey "Libby" Blosser, Robert Peyton Blosser, Alexander Gregory "Alex" Duncan, Naomi Amelia "Na" Jenkins (Joey), Storm Christopher "Stormy" Harrelson, James Ryan Causey (Erin), and Evan Blake Causey, three great grandchildren, James Ryan Causey, Jr., Margaret Ann Causey, and Emma Grace Howden, cousins, Ricky Phillips and Wanda Caines, his special companion, Magnum "Mag", and a host of really great friends. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Twin City Memorial Gardens with Dr. Jim Mezick, Dr. Louis Venable, Rev. Ross Altman, Rev. Lloyd Williamson, and Mr. Donnie Gore officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM Tuesday at the Twin City Memorial Gardens Mausoleum Chapel. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of McLeod Hospice for their care and support over the last few days.
