Thomas Hilbourn

October 11, 1932 - February 2, 2014

Loris...Thomas Carlyle Hilbourn, age 81, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014, at his home following an illness. Mr. Hilbourn was born in the Oakdale section of Horry County, a son of the late Gero Hilbourn, Sr., and the late Mable Ward Hilbourn. He married Louise H. Hilbourn in Conway on March 16, 1952. Mr. Hilbourn was a member of Lawndale Baptist Church and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise H. Hilbourn; and four brothers, Gero Hilbourn, Jr., Gary Hilbourn, Carlyle Hilbourn, and Jimmy Hilbourn. Survivors include his eight children, Hilda Smith and her husband Terry of Loris, David Hilbourn and his wife Diane of Virginia, Peggy Stone and her husband Mark of Conway, Paul Hilbourn and his wife Phyllis of Loris, William Hilbourn of Loris, Sandy Williams of Conway, Mark Hilbourn and his wife Beth of Loris, and Steve Hilbourn and his wife Mary of Loris; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mildred Pope and Lila Maxfield both of Virginia, and Mabeline Porter and her husband Marshall of Loris; four sisters-in-law Martha Hilbourn of Virginia, Yoko Hilbourn of Arizona, June Hilbourn of Chicago,IL and Gail Hilbourn of Marion; two brothers-in-law Rev. Dewey Hilbourn of Tabor City, NC and Carlyle Hilbourn and his wife Margie of Denver, CO. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 5, 2014, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014, at Lawndale Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Hardee officiating. Burial will follow in the Twin City Memorial Gardens.
