William Albert Matzinger

William Albert Matzinger, age 102, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022 at St. Gabriel’s Assisted Living & Memory Care in Murrells Inlet, SC. William (Bill) was the older son of Walter and Jessie Matzinger and was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 26, 1920. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Matzinger. William was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn (Harmon) Matzinger. William served in the Army Air Corps from 1942-1945 during WWII as an aerial photographer. After the war, he worked as a graphic artist at Toledo Blueprint until he had to quit due to skin poisoning. He also worked on the railroad as a greaser for a period of time. After that he worked at various factory jobs with his last job being at Jeep Corporation in Toledo until he retired. William enjoyed fishing, camping, photography, oil painting and eating out. William is survived by his daughter, Barbara (Matzinger) Miller (Michael) of Murrells Inlet, SC; his grandsons David Miller (Sarah) of Bowling Green, KY; and Daniel Miller (Kristi) of Boca Raton, FL; and five great-grandchildren Jacob Miller and Blake Miller of Boca Raton, FL; Wesley Miller and William Reeder Miller of Bowling Green, KY; and Allison Cherry (Cole) of Key Largo, FL. No service is planned. Interment of ashes will be at Ft. Meigs Cemetary in Perrysburg, Ohio at a future date.
