Winston A. J. Gould
September 29, 1942 - May 4, 2020
Mullins…. MSgt Winston A. J. Gould USAF, (Ret) age 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday May 4, 2020 with his loving wife of 57 years, Linda, by his side. Winston was born on September 29, 1942 in Basel, Switzerland. He was the son of the late Alfred and Ida Imsand Gould. He immigrated to the United States with his mother shortly after WWII and was raised in Queens, New York. He entered the Air Force as a 17 year-old high school dropout and retired 20 years later as a Master Sergeant. His first duty station was Myrtle Beach AFB, where he met and married the love of his life, Linda Faye Causey. He was a crew chief on F-100, F-4, A-7 and A-10 fighter aircraft and his service included tours in Vietnam, Iran, Korea, and Japan. After his military service, he worked for AVX Ceramics in Myrtle Beach and retired as an FAA-certified Airframe and Powerplant inspector with PEMCO Aeroplex of Dothan, AL. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and a Mason. A mechanic at heart and master with a wrench, he had a weakness for automobiles which only a person as special as Mom could understand (or tolerate!). In addition to his wife, Linda Causey Gould, survivors include his sons, Lt Col (Ret) Winston A. Gould (Cindy) of Fredericksburg, VA, and Maj (Ret) Gordon D. Gould (Michele) of Aynor, SC, grandchildren Matthew Gould (Jessie) of Mocksville, NC, Linda M. Gould of Chesapeake, VA, Coleman Gould of Omaha, NE, Holli Gould and Kaitlynn Gould, both of Fredericksburg, VA, as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He also leaves seven special sisters and brothers in England, Andrea, Catherine, Andy, Martin, Bernadette, Louise, and Amadea, whose visits and calls meant so much, as well as two dear cousins in Switzerland, Liliane Krueger and Marlen Summermatter; his loyal companion who seems lost without him, his dog Lili. The family truly regrets that due to the Coronavirus and CDC regulations the funeral service must be private. Please keep the family in your prayers. Burial will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Agape of Florence for the kind, gentle care they provided Dad over the last six weeks, especially Wayne, Kenandra and Loretta. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VFW post 6122 at 407 Gray Ct. Mullins SC, 29574. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
