Billy Moses Minick

Billy M. Minick Billy M. Minick, age 85, of E-205 Covenant Towers, Myrtle Beach, died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Covenant Towers Health Care Center. Mr. Minick was born in Saluda, SC and raised in Batesburg, SC. He was a son of the late Jack Carson and Mary Jessie Minick. He graduated from Batesburg-Leesville High School and attended Clemson University. He was a First Lt. in the US Army/Air Corp. and served until the end of WW II. Following the war, he attended and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Business Administration. He had a long career in purchasing and materials management in several different companies in his hometowns of Batesburg, Greenwood, Columbia and Aiken. Shortly after his retirement in December, 1990, he and his wife moved to Murrells Inlet. Mr. Minick was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach and was preceded in death by his wife, Syderist Richardson Minick. He and Syderist were blessed with 59 years of marriage, and were active in bridge clubs, supper clubs, and square danced together for over 30 years. And if there was any free time, you could find him on the golf course. Survivors include a son, Gerald Rogers Minick and his wife Robin of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Mary Gene Minick Singleton and her husband Joey of Myrtle Beach; sister-in-law Barbara Minick of Batesburg; brother-in-law Sonny Richardson and his wife Marilyn of Taylors; six grandchildren, Jennifer Minick Conrick of Lexington, Jean Singleton Hood of Charleston, Anne Singleton of Charlotte, N. C., Emily Minick of Anchorage, Alaska, Rachel Minick Johnson of Portland Oregon and Benjamin Singleton of Myrtle Beach; four nieces, one nephew, and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, May 16, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach with Reverend Robert C. Wilkes, Jr. officiating. A private burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach Building Fund, PO Box 1306 Myrtle Beach, SC 29578.
