Bryce MacDonald

Bryce "Mac" W. MacDonald passed away on Monday, March 14, 2011. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Ruth Hutt MacDonald and his brother Edward. Mr. MacDonald was born in Lincoln, NH on March 18, 1934. He graduated from Franklin High School in New Hampshire and then enlisted in the Air Force where he remained until 1973. He served in the Security Service and spent most of his 20 years outside of the United States. In 1970, he was shot down in Vietnam and was the sole survivor of his crew of five. Loving sports, Mr. MacDonald was a member of the International Association of basketball officials as well as an avid hunter and fly-fisherman. He was a member of the Murrells Inlet Elks Club, a member for several years with the Tradition Men's nine holers as well as a parishioner of Precious Blood Catholic Church. After retiring from the military, Mr. MacDonald was a building contractor for the next 33 years arriving here in Pawleys Island in 1993 and continued to build homes in Tradition. It was at that time Mr. MacDonald met his wife, Mary Ann, while building a home across the street from her. They were married in Precious Blood of Christ Church by Father Patrick Stenson. "Mac" is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann and three children, Steve and his wife Jackie of Franklin, NH, Lana Dearborn of Tilton, NH and Michael and his wife Debbie of Oklahoma, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two step-children and 5 step-grandchildren. There will be no viewing hours. Funeral arrangements will be made by Goldfinch Funeral Home, Litchfield/Pawleys Chapel with a Mass of Christian Burial at Precious Blood of Christ Church at 10:30 AM Thursday, March 17, 2011. Burial will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery where "Mac" will join his buddies who gave up their lives for our country.
