Cheryl Dawn Lyles

Dawn Lyles, (nee Cheryl Dawn Martin), 68, of Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully after a brief but courageous battle with brain cancer on July 5, 2026. Born on May 3, 1958 in Loris, SC to Henry Leon Martin and Eunice Pearl Martin, Dawn grew up on her family farm and graduated from Loris High School. She went on to earn a degree in nursing from the University of South Carolina. On June 27, 1976, she married her sweetheart, Harry Lee Lyles Jr., and together they built a life in Conway, SC and raised three children, sharing 50 beautiful years of marriage. She spent her career as a nurse at Conway Medical Center, where she retired as director of the endoscopy department, giving over 48 years of dedication to the profession she loved so dearly. After retirement, she spent time camping with friends and family, training and certifying her goldendoodle, Darcy, as a therapy dog, and continuing to practice nursing as a PRN. Dawn was known for her love for the Lord, her quick wit, and her fierce devotion to her family. She was an active member of Palmetto Pointe Church of God, and spent most of her lifetime leading people into His presence through praise and worship as a gifted pianist. Above all, she cherished time with her family, especially holding "Nana and Poppy Camp" each summer for her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, H.L. and Eunice, as well as her brothers, Roger and Travis Martin. She is survived by her husband, Harry, and her three children, Alison Lyles Branch (Josh), Stacy Lyles Baysden (Jason), and David Lee Lyles (Jennifer). She also leaves behind her greatest legacy in her eleven grandchildren- Jaden, Elijah, Sarah, Emerson, Silas, Evan, Ezra, Eliana, Caroline, River, and Miriam. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, August 1st at 1:00 at Palmetto Pointe Church of God, 2901 Fantasy Way, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579. Her family requests all who knew and loved her to attend and wear her favorite colors: blue, purple, and pink to celebrate the bright light that she was.
