Christopher Brooke Arnold, age 82, died on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Chris was born on June 25, 1941, in Baltimore, MD to the late Margaret Flannery and Otto Joseph Arnold. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his sister, Collins Conner and a brother Phil Arnold. Chris was the widower of Tallie Check and the proud father of two daughters: Pam and Kim Arnold and two sons: Christopher Jr. and Matthew Arnold. After the passing of his first wife, he was blessed to meet and marry Mary Ann Sanborn, who is the mother of a daughter, Danielle Ohms and two sons: Jay and Sean Sanborn. Along with his children, left to cherish his memory are 6 grandchildren: Christopher, Kevin and Faith Arnold, Joseph and Margaret Schultzberg and Josh Arnold. Chris opened his heart to eight step-grandchildren: Shane and Steven Ohms, Sabrina, Bianca and Tabitha Sanborn, Joa and Jay Sanborn III; two brothers: Jay and Steve Arnold. Chris had a successful career in the computer world working for IBM, ultimately serving as Director at the Advanced Technology laboratory in San Jose, CA. Chris spent 4 years serving our country in the United States Air Force in both Anchorage Alaska and Andrews Air Force Base outside of Washington DC. He graduated from Fairleigh Dickenson University in New Jersey with a degree in Economics. He was sent by IBM to attend the Executive Leadership program at Cornell University. He was a bright light in the world as one who truly cared for every person that he met. His memory and legacy will continue to live on through his family and many friends. His lifelong beliefs and strong faith carried him and his loved ones as he was at peace with his illness and confident of his place in heaven. Chris had a special love for books, travel, politics, finance, sports and golf. He especially enjoyed his golf buddies and the comradery at the 19th hole. He was dedicated to helping others as a volunteer at Father Pat’s Breakfast Kitchen at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church and working with Meals on Wheels. Chris served as Case Advocate for the tribunal of the Diocese of Charleston, assisting many divorced couples to gain an annulment in the Catholic Church. Visitation with his family will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel in Murrells Inlet. A celebration of Life, the Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 15, 2023 at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church, Pawleys Island. A reception will follow inurnment at columbarium following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family would suggest a memorial contribution to Father Pat’s Kitchen, 1633 Waverly Road, Pawleys Island, SC 29585. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
