Conway… Mr. Danner M. Thompson, Jr., age 67, passed away on Friday, April 24, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. Born March 17, 1959 in Vicenza, Italy, he was the son of Priscilla Smith Thompson and the late Danner M. Thompson, Sr. Danner was a graduate of Kaiserslautern High School in Germany. He was the longtime owner and operator of The Trophy Place, the family business, in downtown Conway. Danner was a member of St. James Catholic Church, where he served as Knights of Columbus 4th degree. He was also a member of DYB Baseball, umpiring in state tournaments and the Dixie Youth World Series, his first being in 1997 in Conway. He served as the umpire, UIC, and District Director. Danner spent over 40 years working with the Conway Recreation Center, serving as umpire, coach, supervisor, player, role model and mentor for many children. Danner also served as a volunteer for the Catholic "E Team" for youth. Danner was an avid Clemson fan and IPTAY member. He was quick witted and was a collector of multiple things. His most treasured hobby was being an UBER driver for his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed. Along with his father, Danner was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Austin Charles Thompson, Sr. and Mary Thompson and his maternal grandparents, Marion and Frances Smith. Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Kathy Bratcher Thompson; son, Michael Patrick Thompson and fiance', Beth Floyd; a daughter, Kristi Updegraff, and husband, Gary; six grandchildren, John Floyd, Meredith Thompson, Bennett Floyd, Kaylynne Thompson, Danner "Lexi" Thompson, and Brett Thompson; the mother of his grandchildren, Kara H. Thompson; a special family member, Cody Slate; his sister, Deborah Thompson; three nieces, Shiloh Thompson, Nicole Voohees, and husband, John and Maitland Littlefield; and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces and great nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at St. James Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday evening, from 5:00 PM-8:00 PM at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family requests casual wear for anyone who feels comfortable. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Danner's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
