Conway...Darrell Miller, Jr. was born on December 9, 1994 in Livingston, New Jersey to Darrell and LaVerne Miller. Darrell, or "DJ" as he was affectionately known, moved to Aynor, South Carolina at an early age and was educated in the Aynor Public School System. DJ was a remarkable student determined to reach his goals and fulfill God's plans. He excelled academically and demonstrated leadership qualities in and out of the classroom. He displayed the ability to balance school, sports and, extra-curricular activities while also maintaining employment initially at Kroger and holding his recent position at Carmike Cinema. He was a multi-talented athlete playing tennis and wrestling, but his passion was football. He was a fierce competitor and confident that no task was too great. He shared his gifts and talents with everyone he encountered which led him to sing in the Chorus and play the Alto-Saxophone in the High School Marching Band. DJ knew that God's hand was on his life, and he prospered and was positioned to pursue greatness. On June 1, 2012, he completed his junior year at Aynor High School. Praise the Lord! DJ accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Real Life Church in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. His daily walk was indicative of his favorite scripture, Philippians 4:13, which reads "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." He was an active member of the Children's Church, Youth Ministry and served as an Usher and on the Audio/Visual Ministry. DJ had a magnetic personality. He loved and was appreciative of the simple things in life, like eating! He enjoyed hanging out with his family and friends and, it was a privilege to be in his presence. His smile enlightened you, his enthusiasm energized you, and his profound words of wisdom inspired you. His life was exemplified by his actions, thoughts, words and deeds. DJ taught us that life is not measured by your duration and what you receive, but by your donation and what you give. He was a humble, resourceful, young man of integrity who encouraged others by often saying, "Have Faith," "Stay Focused on God" and "Trust and Believe in God." He recognized the favor and blessing on his life and, it was evident from the brief time he was here during his earthly journey to the manner in which he was called to his eternal home. We are thankful for his love and the joy instilled in us and grateful his "living was not in vain." He leaves to cherish his precious memories: His mother, LaVerne Miller, Aynor, SC, father, Darrell Miller, Union, NJ, two brothers, Herbert Brooks, Jr. (Maria), Riverdale, NY, Isaiah Miller, Roselle, NJ, three sisters, Tiesha Miller, Columbia, SC, Lynn Rhue (Dante), Baltimore, MD, Shaunda Miller, Hillside, NJ, Maternal grandmother, Ernestine Thompson, Lindenwold, NJ, and a host of special aunts, uncles, niece, nephews, cousins, others relatives and countless friends. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Aynor High School with Pastor Frank Policastro officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-6 PM Tuesday in the Aynor High School Auditorium.
