Edward “Ed” Robert Meister, 65, of Myrtle Beach, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Conway Medical Center in Conway, South Carolina. Ed was born January 2, 1958, in Audubon, New Jersey, a son of the late Edward A. Meister and Janet Green Meister. In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Meister. Edward was raised in Titusville, New Jersey. He attended local schools and graduated from Hopewell Valley Central High School in 1976. He lived in Hamilton, New Jersey for over 20 years. During his working years, he was a delivery driver for UPS until he retired in October of 2018. After retiring from UPS, he and his family relocated to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he worked part-time for Blackmoor Golf Club and later Myrtle Beach National Golf Club. In his leisure time, Ed was an avid athlete. He loved running and biking in Triathlons, playing soccer and softball, and especially golfing, which he loved sharing with his sons and many close friends and family. Ed was a big fan of the Philadelphia Eagles football team and was a season ticket holder for the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team, where he shared many games with family and friends. He was also an incredible cook and loved barbecuing for his friends and family. He was best known for his BBQ ribs and chili. He’d never say no to a good steak and a cold beer. Above all else, Ed loved life and was beloved by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving family, including his devoted wife Rosanne Nix Meister; his son Tristen S. Defazio of Three Bridges, NJ; his son Lyle E. Meister of Myrtle Beach, SC; his sister Beth Jean Cash and her husband Christian of Howes Cave, NY; his brother Mark Meister and his wife Catherine of Bradford, NH; as well as countless loving nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and many friends, who will forever cherish his memory. A memorial service to celebrate and honor Ed’s life will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 3:00 PM at Goldfinch Funeral Home in Carolina Forest (325 Hinson Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579). His family will receive friends during a visitation from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM prior to the service, also at Goldfinch Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Liver Foundation (http://www.liverfoundation.org), Help4Kids Organization (http://www.help4kidssc.org), or a charitable organization of your choosing.
