Conway...Elise Hardee Booth left this world to claim her victory on February 11, 2014. Elise was an active Christian whose faith was evident in her daily life and love for others. She was a prayer warrior who knew the power of an earnest prayer. Gertie Elise Hardee was born on October 31, 1923 to Willie Oliver (W.O.) and Gertie Holmes Hardee. After the death of her mother, Oliver married Mae Causey. She had 12 brothers and sisters. Those surviving her are Hazel Singleton, Vernon Causey (Lois), Jo Stevens, Della Buddin (Bill), a brother-in-law Buster Booth, and a sister-in-law Arlene Hardee. She married the love of her life, Fulton Evan Booth, on December 18, 1943. They had four children Gail Hunter (Terry), Suzanne Rush (Jodie), Lynne Koon (Irby), and Enoch Booth (Kim). These children blessed their parents with 9 grandchildren: Rick Rush (Angela), Lad Hunter (Lauren), Bevan Hunter (Tina), Melanie Porter (Josh), Jonathan Marlowe (Elizabeth), Casey Miller (Adam), Austin Booth, Andrew Booth, and Hannah Booth; 8 great grandchildren: Dylan Rush, Aubrey and Anna Grace Hunter, Evan, Gibson, and a future Coralee Porter, and Abigail and Maggie Marlowe and two special daughters, Gloria Hardee Verenakas (Johnny) and Fifi Remirez (Roman). Elise was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Fulton Evan Booth. She is also predeceased by her brothers and sisters: Hezekiah Hardee, George Hardee, Genevieve Lilly, Oliver Hardee, Elbert Causey, Myrtle Dorman, Carl Causey, and Sylvia Booth. Elise was a graduate of Conway High and Winthrop College. Upon graduation she taught at Conway High School, Homewood Elementary, Whittemore Park Middle, and finally retired from Conway High after a total of 30 years teaching. Elise loved to serve God in any capacity she could. During her life she taught Sunday school, directed the choir, and worked wherever she was needed in the church. In her later years, she was unable to attend church but continued to study her bible daily, pray fervently, and write letters and cards of love and support to those she cherished. She served as an example of love and faithfulness. She was truly a Proverbs 31 lady. Her children arise and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:28. Memorials may be sent to Good Hope Baptist Church, 6101 Privetts Road, Conway SC 29526. Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Friday February 14, 2014 at Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. John Sullivan and Dr. Enoch S. Booth officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00PM Thursday at the funeral home.
