Conway…Frank Wilson Ackerman. III, age 82, of Drawbridge Drive, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2020 surrounded by his loving family and dog Sonic. Mr. Ackerman was born December 25, 1937 in Eau Claire, WI, a son of the late Frank Wilson Ackerman, II and Bernice Grace Duerkop Ackerman. He was a graduate of Menomonie High School. Mr. Ackerman joined the U.S. Navy on January 21, 1957 and retired on July 26, 1977 where he served as an air traffic controller. He later became a Navy Recruiter in Mason City, Iowa. He was a member of the U.S. Navy Memorial in Washington, DC. Mr. Ackerman was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 1275 Hearts Content in Newfoundland and the Abu Bekr Shriners in Mason City, Iowa. Mr. Ackerman moved to Conway in 2003 to be close to family. He was a faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church where he was a former Trustee and loved to work the Pumpkin Patch. Mr. Ackerman was predeceased by a son, Peter Ackerman. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Green Bay Packers, the Carolina Hurricanes, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the local favorite, Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Surviving are his wife, Pearl Ackerman of Conway, one loving granddaughter, Jessica Dakota Ackerman of Myrtle Beach, one daughter in law, Chantele Vizzini of Myrtle Beach; three brothers, Chris Ackerman, Mark Ackerman and Bill Ackerman, all of Eau Claire, WI, two sisters, Betty Johnson of Eau Claire, WI and Joan Halvorson of Altoona, WI, two brothers-in-law, Ray Noel of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and Clyde Noel of Upper Island, Newfoundland, Canada, a sister-in-law, Daisy Noseworthy of Mt. Pearl, Newfoundland, Canada, his loving nieces, nephews and his loving dog, Sonic. The family truly regrets that due to the Coronavirus and CDC regulations, the funeral service must be limited in attendance.
