Marguerite Causey Benton, 90, of Conway, passed away on December 21, 2020 at Conway Medical Center. She was born August 10, 1930 in Conway, SC, a daughter to the late Robert Fulton Causey Sr. and Maybelle Stalvey Causey. Marguerite grew up, graduated from high school, started a family and lived her entire life in the Conway area. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph F. Benton and both of her parents, as well as her brother Rev. Robert F. Causey Jr., her brother Milford L. Causey, her sister Ruby Lee Fowler and her three dear pet birds, Sugar the Cockatiel, BJ and Precious. In life, Marguerite worked a variety of retail jobs and spent many years working at the ice cream parlor at Waccamaw Pottery. She was also a faithful member of the East Conway Pentecostal Holiness Church. In her leisure time, she enjoyed word search puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune and soap operas on TV, spending time with her family and just working hard and staying busy keeping up her home. Her most important and rewarding role, however, was that of a loving mom, grandma and great-grandmother. Marguerite is survived by a large and loving family, including her devoted children; son Roger Franklin Benton (Sylvia) and daughter Connie Stanley (Glenn); her five dear grandchildren Charles "Chuck" Benton (Sabrina), Mindy Benton Hooks (Eric), Kirsten Pilkerton (Rob), Lauren LeMaster (David) and Brooke Stanley-Schmidt (Peter); her adoring seven great-grandchildren Karis Pilkerton, Elia Pilkerton, Robbie Pilkerton, Logan Benton, Ethan Benton, Gavin Hooks and Peyton Hooks; and lastly her siblings, her brother Jesse L. Causey and her sisters Velma Jacobs, Verona Causey Jordan and Olene C. McNair. The family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of Carolina Gardens for their compassionate care. A graveside service will be held to honor Marguerite on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Hillcrest Cemetery in Conway. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Marguerite's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
