Maryann Victoria Bowker, 76, of Myrtle Beach, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at MUSC Medical Center in Charleston, South Carolina, with her loving family by her side. Maryann was born on October 13, 1947, in Jersey City, New Jersey, a daughter of the late John Rawluk and Marion Girardi Rawluk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John Rawluk and her sister, Stephanie Rawluk. As a young woman, Maryann attained her master’s degree in education and English from Trenton State College in New Jersey. On June 27, 1970, she married the love of her life, William George Bowker. Maryann had a long and successful career as a social worker. She worked for the Mercer County Board of Social Services for 37 years. In her leisure time, Maryann loved to travel, especially to the beach and to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She also enjoyed crafting, making flower arrangements, and crocheting blankets. Above all else, she treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was caring, selfless, compassionate, and outgoing. She never met a stranger and could start a conversation with anyone. Maryann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Maryann is survived by her loving family who will forever cherish her memory. Survivors include her devoted husband of 54 years, William “Bill” Bowker; her son Christopher Bowker; her son David Bowker and his wife Sandra Wiley; her daughter Cori Irving and her husband Jonathan Irving; her three grandchildren, Liam, Lane, and Luke; her sister-in-law Michaela Rawluk; her 2 godchildren, Katie Rawluk Longo and Brian Semeta; as well as countless nieces, nephews, extended family members and many friends. A memorial service to honor Maryann will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 3:00 PM at Goldfinch Funeral Home of Carolina Forest (325 Hinson Drive, Myrtle Beach, SC 29579). Pastor Darren Squires will be officiating the service. Her family will receive friends during a visitation before the service from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, and until 4:00 PM after the service, also at Goldfinch Funeral Home of Carolina Forest. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages that donations be made in Maryann’s memory to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org), the American Heart Association (www.heart.org), or to the American Diabetes Association (www.diabetes.org). Goldfinch Funeral Home of Carolina Forest is honored to serve the family.
