Robert Raymond Brody

Mr. Brody was born in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Raymond Sylvester Brody and Ruth Marie LeClair Brody. He loved to tell stories, with great humor, about his love of trains, playing ball in the school yard while growing up in Brooklyn (where he learned everything he needed to know about life), and going to Brooklyn Tech High School. Mr. Brody also loved to share about working in the shipyard as a young man and sleeping in the subway during the overnight shift at the transit authority and then in the morning he loved to come home and spend time with his girls (who didn't realize he actually had a job). He was great at building and creating wood; many of his projects were reflected in his home. Mr. Brody became an avid and accomplished golfer and fulfilled his dream in attending The Masters several times. Prior to retirement, he was the owner and operator of Elite Pools in West Chester County, NY, and then he became known as the "oldest pool man in South Jersey." He was a handy man and could fix anything. He loved to cook for his friends and neighbors in Hobe Sound, FL and Egg Harbor Township, NJ. As a child, he loved to spend time at a summer cottage in Pine Grove, CT, later buying it and making it his home. He and Candice married in Walt Disney World, which was one of his favorite places. Bob Brody absolutely loved his cats, and there were many throughout the years. He repeated often: "I've had a wonderful life." The Brody family will be forever grateful for the comfort and care of Ardent Hospice who carried us through a difficult time. Visitation will be Saturday August 22, 2026, at 10:30 AM, followed by Mass at the Church of St. Katharine Drexel, 6077 West Jersey Ave. Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234 Surviving are: his wife, Candice Marie Schumann Brody of Longs, SC; two daughters, Christine Brody of Virginia Beach, VA. and Lorraine Samuelson (Jay) of Niantic, CT; two step children, David Cabo (Rosina) of Great Falls, Virginia and Jennifer McCartney (Scott) of Calabash, NC; seven grandchildren, Matthew (Brenna), Lauren, Marianna, Sebastian, Veronica, Anthony, and Xavier; and two great grandchildren, Olivia and Elaina.
