Rosalyn Eldridge Clontz, age 76, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at home,on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 after a long illness of COPD and Parkinson's Disease. She was a true Myrtle Beach native, born in a beach house on Ocean Boulevard, to Elbert and "Sonny" Lizette Vereen Eldridge on December 8, 1942. She is predeceased by her parents, infant daughter, Donna Lane Clontz and son in law Jimmy McKnight, all of Myrtle Beach. Rosalyn met and married the love of her life, Bill, in 1961. They met at USC Coastal Carolina, when the college was still meeting in the afternoons at the old Conway High School. Bill and Rosalyn served two terms as student body president and vice president respectively. She was a lifelong, active member of First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach and of the Open Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Lautrel Merchant Circle. She served as a leader and attended BSF for almost twenty years. She loved God, Jesus and her family. By far, her first and most important job was raising her children, and later loving and caring for her grandchildren. Rosalyn took care of her parents in their illnesses, for 12 years. She first had a career in banking at Coastal Federal Savings and Loan. She then had a second career for many years as owner/operator of the Surf Motel in Surfside. Rosalyn was a gifted seamstress. She was creative and classy in everything she did. She loved crossword puzzles and Jeopardy. She cherished her family and friends. In addition to her husband of almost 58 years, Rosalyn is survived by her children; Danna Clontz McKnight of Myrtle Beach , Kristin "Christy" Clontz Bell (Brian)of Austin, Tx, Kevin Eldridge Clontz of Myrtle Beach and Geneva "Neva" Clontz Campbell (Josh) of Myrtle Beach: grandchildren; Amelia McKnight, Olivia McKnight, Sydney Bell, Keenan Bell, Gage Clontz, Bella Campbell and Zoe Campbell, her brother Ronald Eldridge ( Bonnie); Brothers in law: Donald Clontz (Libby) of High Point, NC; David Clontz (Karen)of Monck's Corner, SC; Sisters in law: Judy Moir of Columbia, SC and Janice Bean ( Roddy) of Hickory, NC. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, June 22, 2019 at First United Methodist Church of Myrtle Beach, with Rev. Tom Brittain and Rev. Jonathan Harris officiating. The family will receive guests Friday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Carolina Forest Chapel.
