Theron Ladson Hunter Conway, SC "Fare you well, fare you well, I love you more than words can tell." Lad Hunter, 52, of Conway, SC, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 18, 2026. Born in Conway, SC, he was a son of Terry and Gail Booth Hunter. Lad was a lifelong learner with a curious mind and a genuine love of knowledge. A true Renaissance man, he mastered anything he did and found joy in sharing what he knew with others. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Recording Industry and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Culinary Arts. Lad had a deep love for the outdoors and felt most at home in nature—whether hunting, fishing, or simply taking in the quiet beauty around him. He also found great joy in gardening and cooking. While he took pride in creating, he found his greatest happiness in sharing the fruits of his labor with others. Music was an essential part of who he was; he loved playing guitar and was a devoted Grateful Dead fan, cherishing the sense of freedom and connection their music inspired, like a gentle ripple through every part of his life. More than anything, Lad loved his people. He cared deeply for his family and his close friends. Lad felt life deeply—the beauty and the weight of it. He was a generous and caring soul who had a deep empathy and a heart so big the world could not contain it. His life was defined by his curiosity, his passions, his thirst for knowledge, and the meaningful connections he built with the people around him. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his siblings, Bevan (Tina) Hunter and Melanie (Josh) Porter; his nephews and nieces Aubrey (Cecilia) Hunter, Anna Grace Hunter; Evan Porter, Gibson Porter, and Coralee Porter; his God sent faithful canine companion, his lab, Bear; and his cherished friend, Corey Anderson. His family will honor his life daily and gather privately at a later date. Lad will be remembered best in the beauty of the sunrise on the water, a quiet walk in the woods, a stunning view from the summit of a mountain peak, and the sweet melody of a good tune.
